About Us

The Ouray County Nordic Council is a division of the Ouray Trail Group, a local community-based, non-profit organization composed of skiing and hiking enthusiasts.  The organization is dedicated to encouraging safe, enjoyable hiking and other low-impact outdoor recreational activities in the San Juan Mountains while protecting the natural beauty of the area.

The Nordic Council purchases & maintains all of the grooming/trail equipment (snowmobile, groomer, signage, foot bridges, etc…) used at Ironton Park. We pay for each individual grooming of the trails.  Our goal is to raise enough funds to insure that the trails are well maintained and groomed (after new snow) throughout the winter season.
